Education &

Job training

It is important for everyone to get the education and job training that they need in order to be successful. Ex-prisoners reentering society are already at a disadvantage because they have a record.

Without the proper support and assistance, they may never be able to fully succeed or be afforded the same opportunities as other individuals. With these education and employment programs, ex-prisoners are given the chance to make a life for themselves and hopefully establish a stable environment for themselves.

Here, we offer the assistance that these ex-prisoners may need and hopefully encourage them to enroll in a program to help them.

Indiana Resources

The Indiana Adult Education website is helpful because it allows opportunities for adult education when reentering the community. Indiana has contracts with other service providers that will assist in literacy, high school equivalency education, and vocational certification programming. With this help, these individuals are able to get high school degrees, college degrees, and some form of employment at some point.

Hoosier Initiative for Reentry (HIRE) is a great program that helps

ex-offenders find employment once they are reentering the community. It is based all across Indiana and even gives the phone numbers and districts for each region in the state that can help them get started. Jobs are available through this website but it even offers job training and a section to explore possible career interests.

The Excel Center is not only in Muncie, but in multiple locations around Indiana. They continue to provide adults the opportunity and support to earn a high school diploma and post-secondary education while developing career paths that offer greater employment and growth opportunities. The Excel Center is operated by the Goodwill of Southern and Central Indiana. They also provide on-site child care and transportation assistance.

Job Corps is a career training program catered to young people from 16 to 24. The program helps to complete high school diplomas, train for careers, and assist in obtaining employment. The Indypendence Job Corps Center is found in downtown Indianapolis on E. Ohio St. Job Corps can also be found all over the country.
